Treatment of thrombocytopenia in adults with chronic liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a procedure, and treatment of thrombocytopenia in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy.
Doptelet is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist that binds to and activates thrombopoietin receptors on bone marrow progenitor cells, stimulating the production of platelets.
Should not be used to normalize platelet counts. May increase the risk of thrombotic events; use with caution in patients with known risk factors for thrombosis. Requires regular platelet count monitoring. May cause hepatotoxicity; liver function should be monitored. Take with food for chronic ITP use.
