Elahere is indicated for the treatment of adults with folate receptor alpha (FRα)-positive, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer who have received 1-3 prior systemic treatment regimens.

Elahere is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) consisting of an anti-FRα antibody linked to a cytotoxic agent (DM4). The antibody portion binds to FRα on cancer cells, allowing the drug to enter and deliver the cytotoxic payload, which inhibits cell division and causes cell death.

Common side effects include vision changes, nausea, fatigue, and peripheral neuropathy. Serious risks include pneumonitis, liver toxicity, and gastrointestinal perforation. Patients should have FRα positivity confirmed by FDA-approved testing before treatment. Regular monitoring of liver function and eye exams are recommended during treatment.
