Acute treatment of migraine headaches with or without aura in adults. It is not used for migraine prevention or for treating other types of headaches.

Eletriptan acts as an agonist at serotonin (5-HT1B and 5-HT1D) receptors in the brain. This causes vasoconstriction of cranial blood vessels and inhibits the release of inflammatory neuropeptides, reducing inflammation and pain signals associated with migraines.

Should be taken at the onset of migraine symptoms for best effectiveness. Not recommended for patients with cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or those taking certain other medications. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. Do not use within 24 hours of other triptans or ergotamine-containing medications.
