Elrexfio is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least four prior lines of therapy, including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody.
Elrexfio is a bispecific antibody that binds to B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on the surface of multiple myeloma cells and to CD3 on T cells. This brings the T cells into close proximity with the cancer cells, activating the immune response to kill the myeloma cells.
Elrexfio carries a Boxed Warning for cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurologic toxicity including immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS). It requires step-up dosing and monitoring by healthcare providers experienced in managing these complications. Common side effects include CRS, fatigue, injection site reactions, and infections.
