Esperoct is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency). It is used for on-demand treatment of acute bleeds, routine prophylaxis to prevent bleeding episodes, and perioperative management in adults and children.

Esperoct contains recombinant human coagulation factor VIII (turoctocog alfa pegol), which is a pegylated form of factor VIII designed for extended half-life. It temporarily replaces the missing factor VIII needed for blood clot formation, thereby enabling normal hemostasis in patients with hemophilia A.

Esperoct is administered by intravenous injection. Patients should be monitored for the development of factor VIII inhibitors (antibodies). Common side effects may include injection site reactions, hypersensitivity reactions, and in some cases, inhibitors may develop. This medication is typically prescribed and dosed under the supervision of a hematologist.
