Eulexin is primarily prescribed for metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread) and is often used alongside other hormone therapies such as GnRH agonists. It may also be used in combination with radiation therapy or after surgical castration.
Eulexin blocks androgen receptors in prostate cells, preventing male hormones like testosterone from binding and stimulating cancer growth. By inhibiting androgen uptake and nuclear binding, it reduces the androgenic stimulation that drives prostate cancer progression.
Common side effects include hot flashes, breast enlargement, and gastrointestinal issues. Liver function monitoring is recommended as rare but serious liver toxicity can occur. Eulexin may cause fetal harm if exposed during pregnancy. Patients should report yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, or persistent nausea to their healthcare provider immediately.
