Evamist is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes and night sweats. It may also help with menopausal changes in the vagina (vaginal atrophy) and is sometimes prescribed to help prevent osteoporosis after menopause in women who cannot take other medications for this condition.

Evamist contains estradiol, a synthetic form of the primary female sex hormone estrogen. When applied to the skin as a spray, estradiol is absorbed into the bloodstream to replace the estrogen that the ovaries produce less of during menopause, thereby helping to reduce menopausal symptoms.

Evamist should be applied to clean, dry skin on the inner forearm. Contact with others (especially children and partners) should be avoided after application until the spray has dried. Women with a history of certain cancers, blood clots, heart attack, or stroke should not use this medication. Regular follow-up with a healthcare provider is important while using hormone replacement therapy to monitor for potential side effects and reassess ongoing need for treatment.
