Feldene is used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions causing pain and stiffness. It may also be used for acute musculoskeletal disorders and postoperative pain in some regions.

As an NSAID, Feldene inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing the production of prostaglandins—chemicals involved in inflammation, pain, and fever—thus alleviating symptoms of inflammatory conditions.

This medication carries significant safety concerns including increased risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke), gastrointestinal bleeding, and serious skin reactions. It has been withdrawn or restricted in numerous countries (including the EU and parts of Asia) and is no longer widely available. Use only under close medical supervision with regular monitoring. Patients with cardiovascular disease, history of ulcers, or kidney problems should use with extreme caution or avoid entirely.
