Frovatriptan
Frovatriptan is a triptan medication used for the acute treatment of migraine headaches with or without aura in adults. It works by activating 5-HT1B/1D receptors, causing vasoconstriction of intracranial blood vessels and reducing the release of inflammatory mediators from sensory nerves. This helps relieve the pain and associated symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light and sound during migraine attacks.
Frovatriptan is a prescription migraine medication that relieves acute migraine headaches by targeting specific serotonin receptors in the brain and blood vessels.

Acute treatment of migraine headaches with or without aura in adults. It is not used for migraine prevention or for treating other types of headaches.
Frovatriptan binds to and activates 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors in the brain and cranial blood vessels. This agonist activity causes vasoconstriction of intracranial vessels (including arterio-venous anastomoses) and inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory neuropeptides from sensory nerves, reducing inflammation and pain signals associated with migraines.
Should be taken as soon as possible after migraine onset for best results. Not recommended for patients with cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or hemiplegic/basilar migraine. May interact with other serotonergic medications and CYP1A2 inhibitors. Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and paresthesia. Not intended for prophylactic use.
