Gomekli is indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in adults in combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) or as monotherapy in patients who have an inadequate response to UDCA or are intolerant to it.

Gomekli is a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) agonist. It works by activating PPAR receptors, which helps reduce bile acid accumulation and exerts anti-inflammatory effects in the liver, potentially slowing disease progression.

Common side effects may include abdominal pain, nausea, and joint pain. Patients should have liver function monitored regularly. Gomekli is not recommended for patients with decompensated cirrhosis. It may cause fetal harm and should not be used during pregnancy.
