Treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults, specifically indicated for genotypes 1 and 4. Used in patients without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis.

Grazoprevir is a direct-acting antiviral that inhibits the HCV NS3/4A protease enzyme, which is essential for viral replication. By blocking this protease, the medication prevents the virus from multiplying and spreading.

Grazoprevir is always used in combination with elbasvir, not as monotherapy. Baseline testing for HCV NS5A resistance-associated substitutions is recommended before starting treatment. Not recommended for patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh B or C). Must be used with ribavirin in certain patient populations including those with genotype 1a infection or in patients with cirrhosis.
