Post-exposure prophylaxis following needlestick injuries or other exposures to hepatitis B, prevention of hepatitis B transmission from infected mothers to newborns, and postexposure prevention in unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated individuals with known or suspected exposure to hepatitis B virus.

Provides passive immunity by delivering pre-formed antibodies against hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). These antibodies can neutralize the virus and help prevent infection until active immunity from vaccination develops.

Should be administered as soon as possible after exposure, ideally within 24-72 hours. Often given concurrently with hepatitis B vaccine for optimal protection. Contains human plasma and may carry risks of transfusion-transmitted infections. Use with caution in individuals with immunoglobulin A deficiency or thrombocytopenia. Medical supervision required for proper dosing and administration.
