Idecabtagene Vicleucel
Idecabtagene Vicleucel is a personalized cell therapy that reprograms a patient's own immune cells to recognize and attack cancer cells. It is designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma in patients who have received prior treatments. This therapy represents a novel approach in cancer treatment by harnessing the patient's immune system to target cancer cells.
A CAR-T cell therapy that modifies a patient's own T cells to target and destroy cancer cells in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

Target antigen
Molecular target for CAR-T cells
Idecabtagene Vicleucel is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least two prior therapies, including an immunomodulatory agent and a proteasome inhibitor.
This therapy involves collecting the patient's T cells and genetically engineering them to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that targets B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on the surface of malignant plasma cells. Once reinfused into the patient, these CAR-T cells recognize and bind to BCMA-expressing cells, leading to cancer cell destruction.
As a one-time, personalized therapy, it requires specialized healthcare facilities experienced in cell therapy administration. Major risks include cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), which require close monitoring and management. Regular follow-up is essential to assess treatment response and delayed complications.
