Idelvion is indicated for use in patients with hemophilia B for: on-demand treatment and control of bleeding episodes, routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding, and perioperative management of surgical bleeding.
Idelvion is a recombinant factor IX albumin fusion protein (rIX-FP). It works by replacing the deficient clotting factor IX in patients with hemophilia B, helping to restore the normal blood clotting process. The albumin fusion technology extends the half-life of factor IX, allowing for less frequent infusions compared to standard factor IX products.
Idelvion is administered via intravenous infusion. Patients should be monitored for signs of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, particularly when initiating therapy. Development of factor IX inhibitors may occur; patients should be tested regularly. The medication should be stored refrigerated and brought to room temperature before administration. Dosage and dosing frequency are individualized based on the patient's weight, bleeding severity, and clinical response.
