Overdose information

Important overdose information
Toxic dose: Highly variable based on individual insulin sensitivity; doses exceeding 0.5mg (approximately 50 units) in insulin-naive individuals may cause severe hypoglycemia
Chronic overdose: Chronic excessive dosing leads to recurrent hypoglycemia, weight gain, and potential hypoglycemia unawareness
Immediate actions
Administer oral glucose if conscious; if unconscious, administer intravenous dextrose 50%; monitor blood glucose continuously
Antidote
Dextrose (IV glucose) and glucagon(Highly effective when administered promptly; dextrose reverses hypoglycemia within minutes)

Mechanism of action

Value:Binds to insulin receptors to facilitate glucose uptake

Primary pharmacodynamic mechanism

Treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults and children requiring basal insulin coverage for glycemic control.

Stimulates peripheral glucose uptake, particularly in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue, while inhibiting hepatic glucose production to lower blood glucose levels.

Administered via subcutaneous injection; dosage must be individualized. Monitor blood glucose regularly. Watch for hypoglycemia and hypokalemia. Do not use if solution is not clear and colorless.
