Kerendia is used to treat chronic kidney disease (CKD) associated with type 2 diabetes, helping to slow disease progression and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as heart attack and heart failure.

As a nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, Kerendia blocks the activity of aldosterone, a hormone that can contribute to kidney damage and cardiovascular inflammation when overactive.

Kerendia may cause hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels) and should not be used during pregnancy. Regular monitoring of kidney function and potassium levels is required during treatment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment and should be used cautiously with other potassium-sparing medications.
