Kevzara is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adult patients who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with methotrexate or other conventional DMARDs.

Kevzara is a monoclonal antibody that binds to and blocks the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor. IL-6 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a key role in the inflammation, swelling, and joint damage associated with rheumatoid arthritis. By inhibiting IL-6 signaling, Kevzara helps reduce inflammation and disease activity.

Kevzara is administered by subcutaneous injection every other week. It may increase the risk of serious infections, including tuberculosis and invasive fungal infections. Patients should be screened for latent tuberculosis before starting treatment. Common side effects include injection site reactions, upper respiratory tract infections, and elevated cholesterol levels. Live vaccines should be avoided during treatment.
