Klisyri is indicated for the topical treatment of actinic keratosis (AK) on the face or scalp. Actinic keratosis are rough, scaly patches caused by years of sun exposure and are considered precancerous lesions that may develop into squamous cell carcinoma if left untreated.

The active ingredient in Klisyri is tirbanibulin, a microtubule inhibitor. It works by binding to tubulin and inhibiting microtubule polymerization, which disrupts cellular structure and function, ultimately leading to cell death (apoptosis) of the abnormal keratinocytes in actinic keratosis lesions.

Klisyri is for external use only and should not be used near the eyes, mouth, or lips. Common side effects may include local skin reactions such as redness, flaking, crusting, and swelling at the application site. Patients should avoid washing or touching the treated area for approximately 8 hours after application. Sun exposure should be minimized during and after treatment.
