Lamisil Defense is indicated for the treatment of tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea pedis (athlete's foot), including the interdigital and moccasin types. It is also used for pityriasis versicolor caused by Malassezia furfur.

As an allylamine antifungal, Lamisil Defense works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase in fungal cells, which disrupts fungal cell membrane synthesis and leads to accumulation of squalene that is toxic to the fungus. This results in fungicidal activity against dermatophytes.

For external use only; avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth. Treatment duration varies by condition—athlete's foot typically requires 2-4 weeks, while ringworm and jock itch may require 1-2 weeks. Patients with chronic liver disease or immune disorders should consult a healthcare provider before use. Discontinue use and seek medical advice if no improvement occurs after the prescribed treatment period.
