Lanacane is used to temporarily relieve pain and itching associated with minor skin irritations, including insect bites, minor burns, sunburn, cuts, scrapes, and skin irritation from plants like poison ivy.

Lanacane contains benzocaine, a local anesthetic that works by blocking nerve signals in the skin, thereby numbing the area and providing temporary relief from pain and itching.

For external use only on intact skin. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and large areas of broken or damaged skin. Do not use in the ears if the eardrum is punctured. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond 7 days or worsen. Rare but serious methemoglobinemia has been reported with benzocaine use.
