Donislecel
Lantidra is an islet cell therapy consisting of donor pancreatic cells used to treat adults with type 1 diabetes who experience recurrent severe hypoglycemic episodes despite optimal insulin management. Administered via infusion into the liver's portal vein, the donor islet cells function to produce and release insulin in response to blood glucose levels.
Lantidra is an islet cell therapy for type 1 diabetes patients with problematic hypoglycemia that replaces insulin-producing cells from donor pancreata.

Lantidra is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 1 diabetes who have recurrent severe hypoglycemia despite intensive diabetes management and are unable to approach target hemoglobin A1c due to repeated hypoglycemic episodes.
Lantidra consists of allogeneic islet cells obtained from deceased human donors. These cells are infused into the patient's liver via the portal vein, where they engraft and function as a replacement for the patient's damaged pancreatic beta cells. The donor islet cells detect blood glucose levels and respond by secreting appropriate amounts of insulin, thereby helping to restore glycemic control.
Lantidra requires immunosuppression to prevent rejection of the donor cells. Patients should be monitored for procedural complications including bleeding, portal hypertension, and infection. Additional infusion procedures may be needed if initial islet function declines over time. Benefits may not be permanent as islet cell survival cannot be guaranteed indefinitely.
