Lenvima is FDA-approved for the treatment of adults with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) that has progressed despite radioactive iodine therapy, advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) in combination with everolimus, unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer), and advanced endometrial carcinoma in combination with pembrolizumab.

Lenvima is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that works by blocking multiple receptor kinases involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels that feed tumors). Specifically, it inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptors and other related kinases, which helps slow tumor progression and can cause tumor shrinkage.

Lenvima may cause serious side effects including hypertension, heart failure, arterial blood clots, liver problems, kidney problems, and gastrointestinal perforation. It can also impair wound healing and may cause fetal harm if used during pregnancy. Patients should be monitored regularly for blood pressure, liver function, and signs of cardiac or renal toxicity. Complete prescribing information should be reviewed for all warnings and contraindications.
