Linerixibat is indicated for the treatment of cholestatic pruritus (itching) in adult patients with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), a chronic liver disease characterized by progressive destruction of bile ducts.

Linerixibat is a reversible inhibitor of the ileal bile acid transporter (IBAT). By blocking this transporter in the terminal ileum, it prevents the reabsorption of bile acids back into the bloodstream, leading to increased fecal excretion of bile acids and reduced serum bile acid levels.

Linerixibat is an oral medication. Common adverse effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and changes in bowel habits due to increased bile acid delivery to the colon. Patients should be monitored for liver function and gastrointestinal symptoms. Efficacy and safety in pediatric populations have not been established.
