Short-term treatment of acute pain (such as postoperative pain, dental pain, or musculoskeletal pain), symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis, and symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Lornoxicam is a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, blocking both COX-1 and COX-2. This inhibition reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical messengers responsible for pain, fever, and inflammation in the body.
Like all NSAIDs, Lornoxicam carries risk of gastrointestinal irritation, ulcers, and bleeding, particularly with prolonged use. It may increase cardiovascular risk and should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment, hypertension, or heart failure. Use should be avoided in late pregnancy. Common side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, and headache.
