Lorzone is indicated for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries. It is typically prescribed when muscle spasm is a prominent symptom.
Lorzone (chlorzoxazone) is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It acts on the spinal cord and subcortical levels of the brain to inhibit multisynaptic reflex arcs that are involved in producing and maintaining muscle spasms, thereby helping to reduce muscle tension and pain.
Lorzone may cause drowsiness or dizziness; patients should avoid operating machinery or driving until they know how the medication affects them. It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to chlorzoxazone. Alcohol and other CNS depressants may enhance sedation. Take exactly as prescribed and do not stop suddenly without consulting your healthcare provider.
