Marqibo is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome-negative (Ph-) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in second or greater relapse, or whose disease has progressed after two or more lines of antileukemia therapy.
Marqibo contains vincristine sulfate encapsulated in liposomes. Vincristine binds to tubulin and inhibits microtubule assembly, disrupting mitotic spindle formation and causing cell cycle arrest at metaphase, which leads to cell death in rapidly dividing cancer cells.
For adult use only. Administered as an intravenous infusion. The liposomal formulation has different pharmacokinetics than standard vincristine, so dosing is specific to this product. Should only be handled and administered by healthcare professionals trained in safe handling and administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy agents.
