Medrysone is used to treat inflammatory conditions of the eye including allergic conjunctivitis, superficial keratitis, iritis, cyclitis, and other corticosteroid-responsive disorders. It may also be prescribed for post-operative ocular inflammation.
Medrysone is a corticosteroid that works by inhibiting the inflammatory response through multiple mechanisms, including reducing capillary permeability, stabilizing cellular membranes, and suppressing the immune system's inflammatory mediators to decrease swelling, redness, and discomfort in ocular tissues.
Medrysone should not be used in patients with viral, fungal, or mycobacterial eye infections unless combined with appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure and risk of cataracts. Patients should not wear contact lenses during treatment and should follow dosing instructions carefully to avoid contamination of the eye drops.
