Treatment of oral and oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush), including infections caused by Candida albicans and other susceptible Candida species affecting the mouth, tongue, and throat.
Miconazole works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, which is essential for synthesizing ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens the fungal cell wall, preventing growth and replication.
For oral use only; avoid swallowing the gel unnecessarily. May interact with certain medications metabolized by the CYP3A4 enzyme. Inform your doctor if you have liver problems. Common side effects may include nausea, altered taste, and oral discomfort. Complete the full course as prescribed even if symptoms improve.
