Mirvetuximab Soravtansine
Mirvetuximab soravtansine is an antibody-drug conjugate used to treat certain cancers. It targets cancer cells expressing folate receptor alpha and delivers a cytotoxic agent directly to them. This medication is specifically indicated for adult patients with FRα-positive, platinum-resistant ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.

Drug class
FRα-targeting ADC for cancer treatment
Primary indication
Approved indication for adult patients
Mechanism of action
Targeted delivery of cytotoxic agent to FRα-expressing tumor cells
Treatment of FRα-positive, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer in adult patients who have received 1-3 prior systemic treatment regimens.
This ADC consists of an antibody targeting folate receptor alpha (FRα) linked to DM4, a potent microtubule inhibitor. Upon binding to FRα on cancer cells, the complex is internalized and the cleavable linker releases DM4, which disrupts microtubule function and causes cell death.
Common adverse reactions include visual disturbances, nausea, fatigue, and peripheral neuropathy. Requires ophthalmic exams prior to and during treatment. Contraindicated in pregnancy due to embryofetal toxicity. Folate supplementation should be avoided during treatment.
