Pharmacological mechanism

Moexipril is primarily used to treat essential hypertension (high blood pressure without an identifiable cause). It may also help protect kidney function in certain patients.

As an ACE inhibitor, Moexipril blocks the angiotensin-converting enzyme, which reduces the production of angiotensin II—a substance that causes blood vessels to narrow. This results in vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.

Common side effects include dry cough, dizziness, and headache. Moexipril should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus. Patients with a history of angioedema or those taking aliskiren should use this medication with caution. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood pressure is recommended during treatment.
