Prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A. Recommended for travelers to hyperendemic areas, populations in the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa, and during outbreak situations involving serogroup A strains.

The vaccine contains capsular polysaccharide from N. meningitidis serogroup A conjugated to diphtheria toxoid protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigen into a T-cell dependent antigen, enhancing immunogenicity and inducing stronger, longer-lasting antibody responses.

Administered as a single intramuscular dose. Common adverse effects include injection site reactions, fever, and headache. Should not be used during acute febrile illness. Pregnancy use only when clearly needed. Revaccination may be considered for individuals with continued high-risk exposure.
