Filgrastim
Neupogen is a medication that helps the body produce more white blood cells, specifically neutrophils, which are essential for fighting infections. It is primarily used by patients with low white blood cell counts due to chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants, or certain chronic conditions. The medication is administered as an injection and works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce and release neutrophils into the bloodstream.
Neupogen is a white blood cell booster used in cancer patients and others with low neutrophil counts to help prevent infections.

Neupogen is used to reduce the risk of infection in patients with chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, to promote neutrophil recovery after bone marrow transplantation, to treat severe chronic neutropenia, and to mobilize hematopoietic stem cells for collection prior to transplantation.
Neupogen contains filgrastim, a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that stimulates the bone marrow to produce and release neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that plays a critical role in fighting bacterial and fungal infections.
Common side effects include bone pain, fever, and injection site reactions. It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to filgrastim or E. coli-derived proteins. Regular blood monitoring is typically required during treatment. Patients with pre-existing blood disorders or spleen issues should use with caution.
