Nexobrid is used for eschar removal (debridement) in adults with deep partial-thickness and/or full-thickness thermal burns. It helps prepare burn wounds for subsequent treatment, including skin grafting.

Nexobrid contains a concentrate of proteolytic enzymes that break down proteins in dead tissue (eschar). When applied topically to burn wounds, these enzymes selectively digest necrotic tissue while largely sparing healthy tissue, allowing for more efficient and targeted debridement.

Nexobrid should only be administered by healthcare professionals trained in its use. It is contraindicated for application on the face, perineum, or genitalia. Potential side effects include local skin reactions, pain during treatment, and hypersensitivity reactions. Treatment typically requires a single 4-hour application followed by thorough wound cleansing.
