Treatment of pediatric patients aged 3 years and older with growth failure due to inadequate secretion of endogenous growth hormone (growth hormone deficiency).
Ngenla contains somatrogon, a recombinant human growth hormone analog with an extended half-life. It binds to growth hormone receptors throughout the body, activating the JAK-STAT signaling pathway to promote growth, increase IGF-1 levels, and support metabolic functions similar to natural growth hormone.
Administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. Should be prescribed and monitored by a pediatric endocrinologist. Contraindicated in patients with active malignancy, acute critical illness, or Prader-Willi syndrome with obesity. Common side effects include injection site reactions, headache, and fever. Patients should be monitored for potential glucose intolerance, intracranial hypertension, and tumor progression.
