Fluid and electrolyte replacement in dehydrated patients, maintenance of intravascular volume during or after surgical procedures, treatment of metabolic acidosis, and general parenteral hydration when oral intake is not possible.
Normosol-R is an isotonic crystalloid solution that expands extracellular fluid volume and restores electrolyte balance. The acetate in the solution is metabolized to bicarbonate, helping to correct mild metabolic acidosis.
Should be used with caution in patients with heart failure, renal impairment, or conditions predisposing to sodium retention. Monitor electrolyte levels and fluid status during administration. Only for intravenous use by healthcare professionals in appropriate clinical settings.
