Nucala is indicated for the treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma (as add-on maintenance therapy), eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) in appropriate adult patients.

Nucala is a monoclonal antibody that binds to interleukin-5 (IL-5), preventing it from binding to its receptor on eosinophil cells. By blocking IL-5, it inhibits the production, survival, and activation of eosinophils, thereby reducing eosinophil-mediated inflammation.

Nucala is administered as a subcutaneous injection, typically every 4 weeks. It should not be used to treat acute asthma symptoms or bronchospasm. Patients should be monitored for hypersensitivity reactions and infections. It is not a rescue medication and should be used as part of a comprehensive asthma management plan.
