Nymalize is indicated for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) to reduce the incidence and severity of ischemic neurological deficits resulting from cerebral vasospasm in adult patients.
Nymalize contains nimodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that preferentially acts on cerebral blood vessels. It causes smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation of cerebral arteries, which helps improve blood flow to the brain and may reduce the risk of vasospasm-related complications following SAH.
Nymalize should be administered via the oral route (with or without food); the oral solution can be taken directly or mixed with water. It must not be administered intravenously or via nasogastric tubes. Blood pressure should be monitored during treatment as significant hypotension may occur. Concurrent use with grapefruit juice should be avoided as it may increase drug bioavailability.
