Obecabtagene autoleucel is indicated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and certain types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in adult patients who have not responded adequately to prior treatments.

This autologous immunotherapy involves collecting the patient's T cells, genetically engineering them to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that targets the CD19 protein found on B cells, and then infusing these modified cells back into the patient where they recognize and destroy CD19-expressing cancer cells.

As a CAR-T cell therapy, this medication carries risks of serious side effects including cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity. Treatment must be administered in qualified healthcare facilities with experience in cell therapy. Regular monitoring for several weeks post-infusion is essential to manage potential adverse reactions.
