Oritavancin is a lipoglycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the D-Ala-D-Ala terminus of peptidoglycan precursors, disrupting bacterial growth.

Administered intravenously. Has a long terminal half-life allowing for single-dose treatment. May interact with anticoagulant drugs and can affect certain laboratory tests. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug. Not recommended for use in pediatric patients.
