Orudis is used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, mild to moderate pain, dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), and other inflammatory conditions causing pain and swelling.
As an NSAID, Orudis works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which reduces the production of prostaglandins—chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, pain, and fever.
Orudis carries typical NSAID risks including gastrointestinal ulcers and bleeding, increased cardiovascular disease risk, kidney problems, and potential liver effects. It may interact with blood thinners, other NSAIDs, and certain blood pressure medications. Patients with aspirin-sensitive asthma, active GI bleeding, or severe kidney impairment should avoid this medication.
