Oteseconazole is a triazole antifungal that works by inhibiting lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, a cytochrome P450 enzyme essential for fungal cell membrane synthesis. By blocking this enzyme, it disrupts the fungal cell membrane integrity and prevents further growth of the fungus.
Oteseconazole is contraindicated in pregnant women and should not be used during pregnancy. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking, as drug interactions may occur. Common side effects may include headache and gastrointestinal symptoms. Women of reproductive potential should use effective contraception during treatment.
