Penpulimab

Published: July 26, 2026Updated: July 26, 2026

Penpulimab is a monoclonal antibody immunotherapy that works as a PD-1 inhibitor to help restore the immune system's ability to recognize and attack cancer cells. By blocking the PD-1 pathway, it prevents tumor cells from evading immune detection, allowing T-cells to remain active against malignancies. This medication is used in the treatment of certain cancers where the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway contributes to immune suppression.

Quick summary

Penpulimab is a PD-1 inhibitor immunotherapy drug that helps the immune system fight cancer by blocking a pathway tumors use to escape detection.

Penpulimab is indicated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma and may be used for other malignancies as determined by treating oncologists based on clinical evidence.

Penpulimab binds to the PD-1 receptor on T-cells, blocking interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2 ligands on tumor cells. This removes the brake on T-cell activity, restoring T-cell proliferation and cytokine production to mount an anti-tumor immune response.

As an immunotherapy, penpulimab may cause immune-related adverse events affecting various organ systems. Patients should be monitored for pneumonitis, colitis, hepatitis, and endocrine disorders. Treatment should be administered by healthcare professionals experienced in cancer immunotherapy.
