Desoxycorticosterone Pivalate
Percorten V is a long-acting injectable mineralocorticoid used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) in dogs. It provides essential hormone replacement therapy for patients whose adrenal glands fail to produce adequate amounts of aldosterone and cortisol. The medication helps maintain proper electrolyte balance and fluid homeostasis in affected animals.
Percorten V is a mineralocorticoid injection used to treat Addison's disease in dogs by replacing deficient adrenal hormones.

Percorten V is indicated for the treatment of hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) in dogs. This condition occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce sufficient cortisol and aldosterone hormones, leading to electrolyte imbalances and inability to conserve sodium and excrete potassium properly.
Percorten V contains desoxycorticosterone pivalate (DOCP), a synthetic mineralocorticoid that acts on the kidneys to promote sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion. By mimicking the action of aldosterone, it helps restore and maintain normal electrolyte balance and fluid volume in the body.
This is a prescription-only veterinary medication administered by intramuscular injection at regular intervals. The dosage must be individualized based on the patient's weight and response. Regular monitoring of electrolytes is recommended to ensure adequate dosing. Glucocorticoid supplementation (such as prednisone) is typically required concurrently as DOCP does not provide glucocorticoid replacement.
