Treatment and prevention of hypokalemia (low potassium levels), often caused by certain diuretics, laxatives, corticosteroids, or conditions such as vomiting, diarrhea, or certain kidney disorders. May also be used in patients with documented potassium deficiency who need supplementation.

Potassium Gluconate provides elemental potassium, an essential electrolyte and mineral that plays a critical role in maintaining normal cellular function, nerve conduction, muscle contraction (including cardiac muscle), and acid-base balance. The gluconate salt serves as a carrier to facilitate potassium absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.

Should be taken with food and plenty of water to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Avoid taking with anti-hypertensive medications without medical advice. Contraindicated in patients with hyperkalemia, severe kidney disease, or conditions causing potassium retention. Laboratory monitoring of potassium levels may be necessary during therapy. Do not crush or chew extended-release formulations.
