Treatment of GERD, gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and H. pylori infection (as part of combination therapy). Also used for heartburn and acid indigestion relief.

Prevacid works by irreversibly blocking the proton pump (hydrogen-potassium ATPase) in stomach parietal cells, which significantly reduces the production of stomach acid.

Take before meals, typically 30-60 minutes before eating. Do not crush or chew capsules. Long-term use may increase risk of bone fractures, low magnesium levels, and Clostridioides difficile infection. May interact with certain medications including methotrexate, rilpivirine, and some antiplatelet drugs. Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
