Quadracel is indicated for active immunization of children aged 4 through 6 years against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis. It serves as a booster dose following the primary DTaP vaccination series.
Quadracel stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against diphtheria toxin, tetanus toxin, pertussis antigens, and poliovirus. By exposing the body to small amounts of these inactivated antigens, the vaccine helps develop immunity without causing the diseases themselves.
Quadracel is administered as an intramuscular injection. Common side effects may include injection site reactions, fever, and fussiness. Children with known allergies to any vaccine components or who have had severe reactions to similar vaccines should not receive Quadracel. As with all vaccines, complete medical history should be reviewed before administration.
