Treatment of short ragweed pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, with or without allergic conjunctivitis, in adults 18 through 65 years of age.
Ragwitek is an allergen extract that works as immunotherapy. By exposing the immune system to gradually increasing doses of ragweed pollen allergens, it helps desensitize the body to these allergens over time, reducing allergic reactions.
Ragwitek is taken daily at home, with the first dose typically administered under medical supervision. The first sublingual tablet should be placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve completely without swallowing for at least 1 minute. Common side effects may include oral pruritus, throat irritation, and ear itching. Patients should have emergency epinephrine readily available as severe allergic reactions are possible.
