Respiratory Syncytial Virus Pre-Fusion F Protein
Respiratory Syncytial Virus Pre-Fusion F Protein vaccines are immunizing agents designed to prevent RSV-related respiratory infections, particularly lower respiratory tract disease. These vaccines work by targeting the pre-fusion form of the F protein found on the surface of RSV, which is critical for viral entry into host cells. They are primarily indicated for older adults and, in some cases, for pregnant women to provide passive protection to infants.
RSV Pre-F F Protein vaccines provide protection against respiratory syncytial virus by inducing immune responses targeting the virus's fusion mechanism.

Prevention of lower respiratory tract disease caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults 60 years of age and older. Some formulations are also approved for administration during pregnancy to protect infants from birth through 6 months of age.
The vaccine contains a stabilized form of the RSV F protein in its pre-fusion conformation. Upon administration, it stimulates the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies that target the pre-fusion F protein, preventing the virus from fusing with and entering host cells.
Common side effects may include injection site pain, fatigue, headache, and muscle aches. These vaccines are contraindicated for individuals with known severe allergic reactions to any vaccine component. Patients with compromised immune systems may have reduced immune responses. Vaccination timing may be recommended prior to RSV season.
