Treatment of inflammation following ocular surgery, including cataract extraction; management of anterior segment inflammation such as uveitis; relief of allergic and inflammatory conditions of the eye and surrounding tissues.

As a synthetic corticosteroid, rimexolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors and inhibits phospholipase A2, reducing the production of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It also suppresses immune cell migration and reduces vascular permeability to decrease swelling and inflammation in ocular tissues.

Should not be used in patients with untreated ocular infections, particularly herpes simplex keratitis. Prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure and risk of cataract formation. Patients should be monitored regularly for signs of secondary infection or elevated eye pressure. Shake well before use and avoid contact with the eye dropper to prevent contamination.
