Treatment of adults with previously untreated and relapsed/refractory follicular lymphoma, previously untreated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, previously untreated and treated chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis when used with methotrexate in patients who have had inadequate response to one or more TNF antagonist therapies.

Contains rituximab, a monoclonal antibody that binds to the CD20 protein on B-cells, causing their destruction. The hyaluronidase component temporarily breaks down hyaluronic acid in the subcutaneous tissue, allowing for better absorption and dispersal of the medication when given as a subcutaneous injection.

Administered as a subcutaneous injection (typically over 5-15 minutes) rather than an IV infusion. Pre-medication with corticosteroids, antihistamines, and acetaminophen is recommended to reduce risk of reactions. Requires monitoring for infections, infusion-related reactions, and cardiac effects. Patients should be observed during and after injection. Not interchangeable with intravenous Rituxan formulations. This medication has a boxed warning for fatal infusion reactions, severe mucocutaneous reactions, hepatitis B reactivation, and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.
